Previously, a low-energy light bulb was seen as a sustainable light source. However, this is a thing of the past. An energy-saving lamp is more economical than an incandescent and halogen lamp. But not as economical as an LED lamp. It also takes a while before an energy-saving lamp gives full light. In addition, the lamp functions poorly in the cold (so not suitable for the garden or shed) and the lamp breaks down faster with frequent switching on and off. Finally, an energy-saving lamp contains a small amount of mercury, which means that a broken lamp must be cleaned with extra care.

The purchase price of an LED lamp is indeed more expensive compared to an incandescent, halogen and energy-saving lamp. But an LED lamp is 85% more efficient than an incandescent lamp and 75% more efficient than a halogen lamp. LED light sources use much less power. In addition, an LED lamp lasts for 15,000 to 50,000 hours. This while a light bulb only lasts 1000, halogen 2000 and an energy-saving lamp 10,000 hours. You can easily earn back an LED lamp in a short time!
