4 tips for good cupboard lighting in the kitchen, wardrobe and walk-in

Good light is essential, also in or under your cupboards. What should you pay attention to when you get started with cabinet lighting or integrated lighting? Consider first what you want to achieve with the lighting before you purchase the lamps. Our LED specialists are happy to help you with useful tips.
Tip 1: Consider what you want to illuminate
Cabinet lighting is applicable in many rooms of the house. Like in the kitchen under the wall units and in the cabinets themselves. In the wardrobe or walk-in and of course the wardrobe. In-display cabinets, open cabinets, and shelves.
Kitchen lighting
In the kitchen: kitchen lighting in or under your cupboards brings atmospheric or handy work light directly onto your worktop or cupboard.

In the wardrobe or wardrobe: choosing an outfit quickly in the early morning becomes a lot easier with cupboard lighting
Showcase
In a display cabinet, bookcase or open cabinet: Emphasize your most favorite items and bring more atmosphere to the room where the cabinet is with cabinet lighting.
Tip 2: Determine the purpose of the cabinet lighting: functional or accent
Functional lighting ensures that you can clearly see what you are doing and the light increases the visibility of items. The light is strong and concentrated. All YPHIX LED lamps from the cabinet lighting series to have a milky-white glass, so it is not annoying to look into the light source ( LED recessed spots excepted). You use functional light in closed cabinets and on the work surface. On the work surface, it is nice to be able to dim the work light with a dimmer to softer, atmospheric light. This way your kitchen will look even better. You apply accent lighting in an open cupboard or display case. Here too it is important that you cannot look directly into the light point. Make sure you do not use too much accent lighting, this will cancel out the effect. Here too it is very nice to be able to dim the light so that the accent lighting can be flexibly adjusted to the time of day.

Tip 3: Check shadow fall and avoid annoying shadow
Determine how shadows fall and whether that is annoying. On the worktop in the kitchen, lighting under the wall units is ideal for having a shadow-free perfect view when cutting and cooking. But also in cupboards, it is useful to first look carefully where you place the lamps. The tips from our LED experts: do not place the lamps too high and make sure that the shadow does not fall on what you would like to highlight or accentuate.

Tip 4: Choose the right controls for the ultimate convenience
When should the light be on and when should it be switched off? Choose the control that matches your cupboard. The most obvious choices for lighting under the (kitchen) cupboard are operated via a motion sensor or heat sensor (PIR), so you never have to search for a light switch in the dark. Need more light in the early morning or dark evening than during the day, or do you want to be able to vary from working light to softer mood light? Dim your LED lighting as desired. Please place the LED lamp in the cupboard. Then it is very handy to choose a door sensor. The light sources then switch on or off when opening and closing the door. The door sensor is available in different variants: flush-mounted, surface-mounted or as a double sensor.
